As Tourists prepare to release their eagerly awaited debut album this Winter, they have dropped it’s title-track: Another State. Tranquil and cerebral, sensory and transient, Another State allows the listener to get lost in a different space. As they prepare to release their LP, Tourists spoke with The Fountain about the new single, and their plans for 2020.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Another State?
We’ve been really happy with the reaction to it, it’s different to other releases but people seem to really love it which is cool. Someone said this track ‘perfectly encapsulates the south west in music’. We feel the hazy, chilled feel to this song really reflected where we come from and the influence our hometown of Torquay and our lives here has influenced us as a band, which we wanted to portray through the video. So this was nice to hear.
TF: How would you sum up the single in one sentence?
Another State is about drifting off to another state of mind or part of your consciousness, a fleeting moment that takes you elsewhere and away from the pressures of our world and somewhere beautiful and blissful.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release, I note an LP?
Our debut album (also called Another State) will be released on 20th November. We’re doing a limited physical release on white vinyl which we’re thrilled about. To release this album on vinyl is a dream come true for us. Other than that, we’ve almost written album two so we’re in the process of demo’ing these tracks and bringing them to life.
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?
We’ve played some cool gigs in London as we have a bit of a fan base there. We also loved playing in Liverpool. The people there are all about music, it’s a way of life for them, so to have an audience like that is always powerful. It’s great that we’re working with a Liverpool-based label for that reason. We’d love to properly tour this album and head further afield, into Europe or overseas. That’s the long-term goal for us.
Another State will be available on 20th November 2020 via the Modern Sky UK label. It is available to pre-order on white vinyl now here
