New Zealand-born, London-based singer and songwriter October and the Eyes has recently signed to KRO Records following an introduction to the label by fellow musician and friend Yves Tumor and is set to release her debut EP Dogs and Gods on Nov 20th. With new single All My Love already out, The Fountain caught up with October about the single and plan for the rest of the year.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to All My Love?
My friends really like it so that’s the biggest thing. I wanna make music for me and my friends and people like us, anyone else who enjoys is just a bonus really. Dad thinks it’s sounds like a Doors song – highest of compliments from Dad so I’ll take that!
TF: How would you sum up the track in one sentence?
Sexy, Sad, Shmoozy, Super-Hot-n-Heady.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release, I note an EP, Dogs and Gods?
EP end of November! I’m also writing another set of songs that would ideally be released next year. Just wanna make 1000 songs really.
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?
My favourite venue is Whammy Bar in Auckland – tiny little dive of a space underground the infamous Karagahape road. Always hosts the best underground music shows. I haven’t played in London yet! Not sure when I’ll be able to either with the whole pandemic situation… Shacklewell Arms is on the bucket list.
