Bonfires is the title track from Jimkata‘s highly anticipated album with the same name set for release in Spring 2021. The band has built a loyal following with relentless touring and have garnered acclaim for the likes of Billboard, LADYGUNN, Earmilk, American Songwriter among others.
The band spoke with The Fountain about the new track as well as the coming album.
TF: You have a debut single out, what has the reception been like to Bonfires?
We’ve been getting a really positive response from fans so far. Even though it was written a few years ago, I think the song taps into the current collective anxiety about the state of the world. This is also the first time we ever premiered a track in the UK. We are beginning to introduce ourselves outside of the US and we’re all pretty stoked about that.
TF: How would you sum up the track in one sentence?
Bonfires is an anthem for finding courage in strange times.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?
We will continue to release this album one single and video at a time throughout the rest of this year and into the next. After that we’re hoping to be able to play some shows at some point as it is allowed. Right now we’ve just relocated to the same area and are looking forward to getting back into a room together to jam and rehearse. One step at a time, I think is the motto for everyone right now.
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?
At this point in time I am nostalgic about every venue we’ve ever played! Even the shitty gigs I now look back upon fondly. At least we got a story out of it. The absence of live music really does make the heart grow fonder. We’re looking forward to playing a show anywhere at this point. Just being back in a room with fans and feeling the energy of the crowd would be great.
