Brooklyn multi-instrumentalist Benjamin Lazar Davis is back with new track, If You Want It, which was co-written with Sarah K. Pedinotti (of Lip Talk). He is constantly collaborating, writing, workshopping, thinking about songs, and you can hear it in every breath of his music, which is full of bubbling energy and a high level of craft.  Benjamin spoke with The Fountain about the track and working with Sarah.

TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to If You Want It?

People really love it and are excited to play loud and share it with their friends! They say it sounds amazing on phone and computer speakers and in cars as well as in nice audiophile systems.

TF: How would you sum up the track in one sentence?

I love writing music with Sarah K. Pedinotti because we really can collaborate so well and fast and the results make me so happy!

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?

I am working on some cool music videos for other BLD songs as well as doing a little film scoring and producing and writing with a couple inspired musical artists. During quarantine I bought a drone and a GoPro camera and Final Cut Pro and now I am able to completely produce my own videos on my own. It’s liberating and you may or may not get to see a new video from me before 2021!

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

I love playing in NYC and the west coast of the USA. I love the UK — which is where one of the labels is that is putting out my music — and Norway and Italy. Hopefully I’ll be touring all of those places before 2022!
