Steven Malcolm has teamed up with legend Shaggy to release Fuego, a multicultural hip hop track with a Jamaican flair. Steven Malcolm has also just been confirmed to perform at Virtual Freshers Fest in partnership with Black Minds Matters UK, so The Fountain caught up with Steven to discuss the new track and plans for the year.

TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Fuego?

The reception has been amazing! Video is up to a million, streams are soon to follow. It’s grabbing the attention of new ears and while I was on tour last week everywhere I went I was “Mr Fuego”!

TF: What was it like to work with Shaggy?

Working with Shaggy was humbling. I was a huge fan growing up listening to him while living in Florida. Shaggy is a living legend so for me to get a stamp from bro is amazing.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?

For the remainder of the year I plan on getting ready for my son to be born in Nov. Before that really focus on gearing up for my EP release.

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

My favorite venue to play live so far is the Pyramid Scheme. It’s a small club venue here in Grand Rapids. Hometown shows are always the BEST!!!

Next place I look forward to rocking is Anaheim Stadium in 2021.
