London-based singer Lex showcases her silky-smooth rhythms and sassy charm with latest single, Mr Perfect. Focusing on the realisation that a crush isn’t all that they once seemed, Lex’s bold vocals inject a youthful energy into her brand of pop music. Lex spoke with The Fountain about the track as well as venues she is keen to get back playing.

TF: You have your second single out, what has the reception been like to Mr Perfect?

I honestly can’t believe the amount of positive feedback the song has had. It was so nerve wracking to follow up Sample Size (my first single) but the song has been really well received and was even featured on BBC Introducing Essex as the ‘Producers Pick of the Week’. It has had some great press already and everyone seems to be loving it, which makes me so happy.

TF: How would you sum up the track in one sentence?

The realisation that someone you think is perfect when you first meet, is in fact the furthest from perfect thing the more you get to know them.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this release?

I was supposed to be on a U.K. school tour this year but unfortunately Covid-19 put a stop to it before it started. This kind of stopped me dead in my tracks so I will be writing more records for the remainder of the year and hope the tour can go ahead early 2021.

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

I absolutely love performing at the Christmas festival in my home town which attracts over 10,000 people. The crowd always gets massively behind me, so there is the most amazing atmosphere.

I am also really looking forward to gigging at all the schools up and down the U.K. next year. I’ll be talking all about bullying after suffering it myself, along with how to stay safe online and performing my music.
