Shadow & The Thrill, the modern blues-infused, groove-laden, hook-filled, melodic Rock band from the streets of Los Angeles and New Orleans, bring songs of salvation to soothe the soul! Their new incredible rendition of Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy off of their debut album, Sugarbowl, is no exception. Tony from the band spoke with The Fountain about the rendition in more detail along with plans for the year.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Crazy?
We are very pleased that it is connecting with people on an emotional level, so many times I read comments that it is affecting people. I’m so glad that our interpretation of Gnarls Barkley’s great song is touching people’s hearts.
TF: What inspired you to cover this record?
CeeLo Green’s vocal mesmerized me when I first heard it. Honestly, I just wanted to grab my guitar and start jamming over it! After a while, I felt this bluesy groove would work, and that is SO FUN to play over. The vocals just kind of fit too, so I sang it as well.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this single release?
We want to try to spread the word on this single, and let everyone have a chance to hear it and experience it. We will be doing more live appearances as the lock down permits. Most likely in studios, radio studios, and responsibly run outdoor shows.
TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?
My favourite venue? That’s too hard to choose. I loved the Tivoli in Brisbane Australia, I loved the Marquee Club in the UK, and ALL of the House of Blues in the US are GREAT! However, even though I’ve spent my early career playing in Hollywood, I still have not played at the Troubadour?!?! Perhaps we can remedy that in 2021.
