Black Marble aka Chris Stewart has shared a new single, Johnny and Mary, a rendition of a song originally performed by Robert Palmer, and the second song made available from an EP of cover songs titled I Must Be Living Twice, which is out now on Sacred Bones Records. I Must Be Living Twice was recorded shortly after 2019’s acclaimed full-length album Bigger Than Life, and is available to order via Bandcamp. Chris spoke with The Fountain about the new EP as well as the single.

TF: You have a new EP out, what has the reception been like to I Must Be Living Twice?

The reception has been great.  It makes me wish I could be touring right now and playing live.

TF: How would you sum it up in one sentence?

Cover songs we’ve been playing live over the last two years, recorded for the fans who want to hear them.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this EP release?

Well, there is no large gatherings allowed in the US now and for the foreseeable future so for the time being Im just working on my next record which I hope to release next year.

TF: Where is your favourite venue for playing live, where is the next place you look most forward to gigging?

I like playing Bowery Ballroom in NYC because it has so much history.  I played at the Fillmore in San Francisco once.  Jimmy Hendrix played there.  I look forward to playing Eastern Europe and Russia because we’ve only ever been as far East as Prague so far.
