Treasure have dropped a long, nine-track EP from, entitled Suffocation & Air. The EP focuses on self-acceptance and love in all forms. Treasure has seen success with his previous releases garnering extensive playlisting from the likes of Spotify official playlists, COLORS, Apple Music and Starbucks. The band spoke with The Fountain about the new EP and what is to follow.

TF: You have a new EP out, what has the reception been like to Suffocation & Air?

I never really took the time to gauge the reception to the project but I feel like it was received well by the people who needed to hear it. The songs received some support from the Pit Ldn collective, and some Spotify editorial support so I’m grateful for the fact people are listening.

TF: How would you sum it up in one sentence?

Suffocation & Air is a meditative dive into my psyche.

TF: Who do you look to and idolise when it comes to influences?

I’m influenced by a load of artists so my catalogue contains a wide range of styles and energy. Artists like Chet Baker, Homeshake and Toro y Moi inspired this project specifically.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this EP release?

I’m releasing a single every 3/4 weeks on Spotify in the lead up to Suffocation & Air’s 2nd instalment coming in September. Suffocation & Air II, is more of a compilation of songs that didn’t make Suffocation & Air due to stylistic differences.

I’ve called on some special features from Modern Nomad, Maggy Lee and Freak Slug for this project!
