Tafari Anthony is a Toronto-based artist whose music blends Pop, R&B and Soul. With new single out, Live in a Dream, The Fountain caught up with Tafari about his fans’ reception to the track and the long-term influences that affect his music.
TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like to Live In A Dream?
The reception so far has been really great! I was having some doubt leading up to the release that maybe people wouldn’t like it that much, but I’m being proved wrong. I’ve been getting so many genuine messages of support for the song, which has been so humbling.
TF: How would you sum it up in one sentence?
A summer bop to help you appreciate where you’re at and feel good while doing it.
TF: Who do you look to and idolise when it comes to influences?
I pretty much always say artists like Prince, Brandy, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend for the fact they have really been able to sustain long careers by staying true to what they do, while still being able to play in many genres and styles. That’s something I really aspire to keep doing.
TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this single release, an EP, LP?
There will definitely be at least one more single before the year is up… and we’ll see if these result in an EP or Album by the end of the year. I’m constantly working on new music so if it feels right, and there’s a body of work there, then there’ll definitely be some kind of collection.
