25-year-old, IVI was born in Austria but grew up in London, soaking in all the diverse artistic influences in the city and distilling them into her own sound. IVI’s debut single, Andromeda, which is out now, is an example of that. She spoke with The Fountain about the track and where much of her inspiration came from.

TF: You have a new single out, what inspired you to title it Andromeda?

I did not name it. Ferdinando Arno, who wrote the song, did. But I’m very happy to be able to give it it’s voice, cause I love the feeling the song is giving me while singing it.

TF: How would you sum it up in one sentence?

A cheerful tune with a message.

TF: Who do you look to and idolise when it comes to influences?

I don’t want to idealize people, but I really look up to artists like Norah Jones, Eddie Vedder, Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, Leon Bridges, Toots and the Maytals, Fleetwood Mac, Johnny Cash, Steve Miller Band, Regina Spektor, Johnny Flynn, Joan Jett, Black Crowes, Tracy Chapman, Patsy Cline….. They all make my mind wander.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, after this single release, can we look forward to an EP, LP?

Oh yeah! I want you all to look forward to an LP+EP and then everybody should please go and check it out!! 😉
