Hunter & The Bear are back with a brand new single: Digital Light, the first new music to emerge from the British alt-rockers since 2018. Released on 20th March, the single stormed straight into the #1 position in the iTunes Rock Chart. The Fountain caught up with the band about the track and their revised plans for 2020.

TF: You have a new single out, what reception have you had thus far?

We’ve been blown away by the response. We went straight to number 1 in the iTunes rock chart which shows how much support the fans have given us here. We’ve got them to thank for that! It feels great to have it out there. Glad people are digging the sound.

TF: How would you sum it up in one sentence?

Big / bold / relevant / saucy / spicy / pungent.

TF: Who do you look to and idolise when it comes to influences?

Too many people to name! We’re all quite individual with our musical tastes so it makes for a good mix of stuff we end up listening to on the road. We have some common favourites. A few of us grew up on the chillies but I wouldn’t say we sound anything like them. Influences are funny like that. We believe our music is unique but so does every artist. Guess that makes us all either deluded or compulsive liars.

TF: What is your plan for the remainder of the year, an EP release, an LP?

All plans are being re-jigged just now with all the isolation etc that’s happening. Not exactly the ideal time to be making touring plans! We managed to reschedule our UK Tour for September which we’re really excited about. We’ve got a bank of new music that’ll be coming out soon one way or another! Keep your eyes peeled for the next single announcement. For now we’re enjoying the Digital Light release and thinking of new ways to connect with fans while we’re all stuck in our houses. The next gig we get to play will be a BIG celebration!
