Neu! Reekie! are renowned for having a belter of a Christmas line-up to remind us of their fantastic year of cabaret and events, and this one is no different. With Scots Makar, Jackie Kay, Rachel Sermanni, Louis Abbott, Victoria McNulty and Callum Easter on the bill, I would be surprised if there are still tickets available. The Fountain caught up with Callum Easter about his personal highlights from Neu! Reekie! Fairytale of Leith and his forthcoming plans for 2020.

TF: You are in the Neu Reekie Christmas line up, which includes Jackie Kay, that’s exciting?

It’s a good looking line-up and I’ve not had a Christmas party yet so feels like time for a blow out. The venue is just down the hill for me so nice and easy. Looking forward to meeting the The Scots Makar again.

TF: And what can your audience expect from your gig, for those that have not seen you live?

Dusty rhythms, wheezing chords, obnoxious drones, healthy sub bass, ranting/crooning and maybe some strobes.

TF: And are there any in the line up you are looking forward to, any personal highlights on there?

Looking forward to seeing/hearing ‘Out of the Ordinary’. You’ve got your tickets worth there. Gonna be a stage full of legends having it and dishing it out.

TF: What else is on the cards for Callum Easter, it’s been quite the year for you?

I’m back recording working out what album number two might sound like and there might be an album of live sessions out earlier in the new year. Keep an eye out for that.
