Blue Hawaii comprised of Raphaelle “Ra” Standell-Preston and Alex “Agor” Kerby recently released their new album, Open Reduction Internal Fixation, having recently dropped new single Still I Miss You. The band spoke with The Fountain about the album in more depth as well as performing in Glasgow.

TF: You have a new album out, that must be exciting?

Yes! And unexpectedly too – born out of a bit of a tragic injury to Agor’s foot, we found ourselves with the extra time and doubled down to work on music instead of going on an Asian tour.

TF: And what has been the reception been like to Open Reduction Internal Fixation, can you elaborate on what inspired the crux of it?

The name references Agor’s foot surgery – basically his heel was put back together (like Humpty Dumpty) with metal screws and a plate. But since Ra was recovering from her own heart break at the time the phrase kinda doubles its meaning on the way someone is torn open and fixated after a messy breakup.

TF: And what are your own personal highlights with the album?

All that Blue is a real fun one and came together quite naturally // but On a High has been the super smashed live. Hello vengaboys!

TF: You are also performing in Scotland soon, how do you find the Glasgow crowd?

Last time we had a ball and hopefully it will be the same this time! Def come ready for a good time – we really like to go hard and Ra has an awesome diva belt she’s been whipping out lately.

TF: What has been your favourite gig to date?

So far it’ll have to be LA or Mexico City – super feedback from the crowd really made for a real locked in vibe.
