Eddy Calvert is a multi-faceted talent: singer/songwriter/producer/sound engineer, he does it all. Eddy’s work famously mirrors his personal life, from his gritty upbringing in the streets of London, England, to his experiences of love, lust and betrayal. Having just dropped the video for new track, Brand New, The Fountain caught up with Eddy about his plans for the year.
TF: A new single, how exciting, what has the reception been like so far?
It’s been crazy so far, 50,000 views on my own YouTube channel in a month for my first music video. I’m truly grateful. Just imagine that many people in one room, it kind of puts it into perspective how crazy that is.
TF: With a title like Brand New, what can we expect from the single?
Smooth laid back vocals over that lo fi sampled R&B type a sound, that’s the best way I can really describe it.
TF: And is the first from an EP or an album that we can see the release of later in 2019?
Nah, I just have a lot of single releases with visuals coming. I am going to start working on another EP I scrapped the last one cause anyone that knows me knows I am very much a perfectionist because if I’m going to release an EP I want it to be a body of work that I’m proud of that has replay value.
TF: Will you be promoting the single with a tour at all, will we have the pleasure of seeing you live?
No tour as of yet and for shows we got some dates coming but to tell the truth my main focus is releasing more music because I would ideally like to get too a point where I’m headlining my own shows.
TF: How have you found previously working as a producer has given you an ear for performing and recording?
To be honest I’ve always had the ear. I remember before I was even a producer watching other people produce I would watch them programme melodies in and I would already know where the melody should go before they even found it, haha.
