One of Scotland’s finest rising bands, The Snuts, recently dropped a single, are playing Mad Cool and TRNSMT Festival in mere days and have unleashed a nine date assault on the UK, kicking off mid-September, including London’s Scala on October 22nd. Jack Cochrane from the band spoke with The Fountain about the reception to the single as well as working with Parlophone.
TF: You’ve a new single out, what has the reception been like so far?
The reception so far has been class. The track was a bit of a curveball so we’re glad that everyone has been digging it.
TF: Can you tell us a bit more about All Your Friends?
All Your Friends is a song we wrote while over in L.A. recording. We were toying with the idea of trying out some different back beats and bass sounds. Behind the lyrics of the track it tells a darker story of a drug epidemic we see in Scotland with young people everyday. It feels like this issue doesn’t really rank high enough on the internet at the moment to be spoken about so we kind of took this opportunity to do so.
TF: And you are performing at TRNSMT, what are your plans for the festival?
We’re playing at Mad Cool Festival in Madrid on the Thursday night so we’re gonna be rushing back to Glasgow as soon as we step off stage there. We plan to really mark the occasion at TRNSMT this year, It’s a performance we’ve waited our whole lives for.
TF: And how was it to be working with Inflo and Parlophone with this track?
Like I say, we were over in L.A. recording this so we were completely out of our comfort zones. I think thats probably what brought the track together so well. With it being our first Single on the label it was refreshing to be challenged and pushed by our team at Parlophone to try and create something really exciting.
TF: What has been your favourite gig to date?
Personally I loved playing Benicassim Festival in Spain. it’s a festival close to our hearts, so it was a real defining moment in our careers so far.
