Titled Left With A Broken Heart, Leah Kate has a new single, which is self-explanatory, taking a very pessimistic view on love. Written about her relative’s experience, she has shown the heart of friendship and spoke to The Fountain about the track and her plans for 2019.

TF: You have a new single out, what has the reception been like so far?

Everything is positive. It is a sad song so people have expressed concern for me but the song was actually written from the perspective of a close family member of mine who is happy that the song is finally out! I’m a huge fan of the production on this track too and many people have complimented the production on the song, thanks Jonah!

TF: It’s obviously a breakup track, but can you tell us more about Left With a Broken Heart?

Yeah, a family member of mine was going through a tough break up. I really wrote it from his shoes, we are super close and I could really feel his pain. I know what it feels like to have a pessimistic view on love. Although my ideas are sprinkled through the song I wrote it in an attempt to make him feel better.

TF: And what do you have planned for the year, an EP, an LP, touring?

An EP and hopefully some cool remixes, features, and shows. Keep a look out for what I have going on on my socials.

TF: Where has been your favourite gig to date?

NY Fashion week at the Style FW show which was right at the beginning of when I began releasing music. It was a huge venue and the most nervous I have ever been but it was awesome.

TF: And you are based in NY and grew up in LA, how have the two affected your music?

They’ve both been places that have shaped my life dramatically through friends and experiences, this in turn affects what I write about and who I am so it all comes full circle.
