Rana Rains has just released her new album, Rain and Rhythm is the first release from the album. Her interesting approach to music has been organically created by her rich experience working with people from all walks of life, which she touches upon in this interview with The Fountain.

TF: A new album, how exciting, what has the reception been like so far?

Well I feel the reception has been great within a core niche of fans, but as an indie artist we’re really pushing with all our resources to get the album out to a wider audience.

TF: What inspired you to title it Rain, was it your surname? And will you be promoting this with a list of exciting tour dates?

I chose to name the album Rain as Rain is not only a renaissance to bridging the gap between old school music and techno. There’s very little in between these days. Also Rain is such a cleansing and beautiful thing. Rain will help cleanse people’s souls and remind them of their truth. Keep an eye here for any tour dates!

TF: Tell us about the single Rhythm?

Rhythm is a song about music. Not only is it groovy and happy, but also flows in such a beautiful way to where you feel the rhythm in your soul. It is the first song I actually sat down and did everything! I was the writer, the producer, the engineer, the mixer and the artist.

TF: Where has been your favourite gig to date?

All gigs are just as amazing as the last. It’s just a different location. The excitement and high is the same, but performing in Beirut was a blast.

TF: How was it working with Shawn from Boyz2Men?

Working with Shawn was like working with all the other great artists and producers. Very unique. We get along beautifully and our ideas together were magical.
