Mike Krol has just released new single, What’s the Rhythm, and new album, Power Chords, all via Merge, with a promoting tour in the UK in the Spring.
Mike spoke with The Fountain about the new single and the prospect of performing in Glasgow’s Hug and Pint.
TF: A new video and single, how exciting, what has the reception been like?
So far people have been very positive about the new stuff! It’s been around thee years since my last album came out, so I think the world is ready to hear something new from me. Feels good that people are paying attention this time.
TF: What’s the rhythm for you?
Slow and steady wins the race.
TF: And you are performing in Glasgow’s Hug and Pint soon, an intimate venue, how do you find the Glasgow crowd?
I’ve never played Glasgow before, so I have no idea how the crowd will fancy me! Hopefully they like me, because I’m a fan (and label mate) of Teenage Fanclub. I’m excited to visit for the first time.
TF: Where has been your favourite gig to date?
In Europe, I really love Vera in Groningen and Plan B in Malmo Sweden. Both venues are so artist friendly and do an incredible job of providing a place of rest and relaxation for touring American bands. Shows like that make doing this crazy thing all worth it.
TF: And your new album Power Chords is also out, what can we expect from that?
How about you give it a listen and let me know what you think of it.
