Ishani released dark and broody Stormy Emotions from the EP with the same name, which is a genre-bending track with electro-pop in abundance.

She spoke with The Fountain about the track and performing at Be My Lake Festival.

TF: A new single, how exciting, what has the reception been so far?

It is always daunting releasing a new track but the response to Stormy Emotions and all of my singles this year actually, has been amazing. People seem to be getting the vibe of the songs and where I’m coming from as an artist. This was my first track to get playlisted on the radio, outside of the BBC Introducing banner, so that felt great. It really makes me feel like I’m growing as an independent artist.

TF: Are you working towards the release of a new EP or LP that we can look forward to?

Yes! My Stormy Emotions EP will be released next year, along with a new track and a music video, which I’m really excited about. I’ll be sure to let you guys know when it drops.

TF: What Stormy Emotions are you referring to?

Stormy Emotions refers to the emotions of anger and sadness that come and go, like the waves of an ocean, during a bad relationship. A relationship that ultimately needs to be left to rest in peace!

TF: And will we have the pleasure of seeing you perform in Scotland anytime soon?

I’m actually coming up to Edinburgh in February. I don’t have a gig planned at the moment but will certainly be checking out the music scene there. If anyone wants to recommend a venue or gig I should check out, please get in touch!

TF: What has been your favourite gig to date?

Well, I don’t know whether it was my favourite, but I performed at the Be My Lake Festival to about 3,000 people… which was pretty intense but amazing! Because it was my first live show! The location was beautiful so that helped my nerves.
