Released on 25th May, JOYYA shared their love letter to London, with their move south, through new track Horizon, which shimmers in electronic goodness, and plentiful hooks.
The band spoke with The Fountain about the track and what it represented for them, as well as their plans for 2018.
TF: A new single release, you must be ecstatic?
We are super excited about our latest release, Horizon. We’ve spent a long time working on this song and can’t wait for more people to hear it. It feels like as a song, it carries quite a lot of meaning for both of us too as it encapsulates the rollercoaster of emotions we both separately experienced when moving down to London from Newcastle. It was a huge jump for us both and the song definitely draws upon our anxiety, excitement and determination.
TF: And what else is on the horizon, an EP an LP?
We have quite a few exciting things planned for the rest of 2018. We’ve written so many new songs now, about half of which we’ve recorded and started mixing. Therefore we’ve devised a release plan that will see us release loads of new music over the coming weeks and months, helping us to continue building momentum over the summer.
TF: And are you promoting the single with a tour, are we likely to see you play live soon?
As part of our release plan we are keen to play as many shows as possible. The very next one being in Newcastle on 9th June at Evolution Emerging where we will be opening up the BBC introducing stage. After that we have a couple of London shows pencilled in but we are waiting to get these all confirmed up before we announce them, so keep an eye out as we have much more to follow.
