Residing from South London, Matt Blvck is showing that there is still very much an appetite for RnB. After releasing his second EP After Party in December raking up half a million streams on Spotify, it’s worth keeping an eye on Matt. On May 14th, Matt will be releasing his first single of 2018, Blow.

Matt spoke with The Fountain about his plans for the rest of the year, getting playtime on BBC1xtra and what he has in store for the summer.

TF: A new single release, you must be excited?

Definitely, it’s been a long time coming. I hadn’t released any music since my EP After Party in December, so definitely excited to start releasing all the new music I’ve been working on.

TF: And it was premiered on BBC1Xtra, that must have been a hoot?

It was actually premiered almost simultaneously with DJ Ace (BBC 1Xtra) and Nadia Jae (theBeat FM). I’d never been played by either DJ before so it was a special moment for me to have them break out my tune.

TF: What is next on the cards, an EP, an LP?

I have a few more singles to release over the forthcoming months and a couple of exciting features. I’ll definitely be releasing another EP after summer!

TF: And aside from recording what other plans do you have, are we likely to see you on the festival circuit this summer?

I have a few shows coming up, mainly acoustic shows. My main focus for this summer is working on more sounds and releasing some of the music I’ve been working on recently.

TF: What has been your favourite gig to date?

I can’t say I have a favourite right now, I did a number of shows in 2016 and practically didn’t do any in 2017 as I wanted to just stay in the studio and focus on my sound. I’ll be a lot more active on the show front this year though!
