With the release of Running Away and touring with AKON, Larry Gordon has had a busy 2017.
Larry spoke with The Fountain about this single, his favourite gig in Glasgow’s O2 Academy and the experience of touring with AKON.
TF: You must be ecstatic about the release of your debut single?
I most certainly am! It is a DREAM come true! Anytime you get the opportunity to release new music it is definitely a blessing! I’m even more excited that I get to share it with you all in the United Kingdom. The song embodies a situation that most of us find ourselves in, in life. Especially when it comes to relationships. I believe it is always that initial period when there are no fears, no walls, all about enjoying each other and living in the moment.
TF: How would you sum it up in one sentence?
Running Away is just a fun, sexy, and flirtatious record with good vibes to set the mood.
TF: And you have just toured with AKON, how was that?
It was AMAZING! Each crowd showed love and were very receptive to my music and me. So I am more than thankful for that. Touring with AKON has been an AMAZING experience. He is such a humble and down to earth person. To know the magnitude of his accolades and to be able to watch him perform and “kill the stage” every night, I have a whole new level of respect for him! I am more of a visual and hands on type of person so the experience was that much better for me. I was definitely taking notes.
TF: What are your plans for the future – are we likely to see you play in Scotland again soon?
I pray I come back to Scotland on another tour and get to perform for you all again very soon! In the meantime, I will continue to work my new single, Running Away. My new EP will be released in 2018, and I just released a mix-tape called Mental Course. This particular project is dear to me. It will help people understand my background in music, upbringing, and why I do what I do the way I do it. Also, the fans can look forward to more music, promotional tours, and hopefully hearing and seeing me on your television screens.
TF: What has been your favourite gig to date?
The 02 Academy Glasglow as surreal! It was my first tour as a solo artist, and definitely a moment I will never forget. That night was more than I had ever dreamed it would be. Definitely one for the books!
