With Reaching for Indigo out now on Drag City Records, and the release of video for track, Brainshifts, it has been an exciting year for Haley Fohr, otherwise known as Circuit des Yeux.
Haley took some time out of her schedule to discuss where the name, Circuit des Yeux, stemmed from and her plans for touring in 2018.
TF: You must be ecstatic about the release of your new record, Reaching for Indigo?
Yes, I am.
TF: How would you sum it up in one sentence?
A failed attempt at interpreting the meaning of life into sound art.
TF: Where did the inspiration come from for the name, Circuit des Yeux?
It is incorrect jibberish French that I made up when I was seventeen years old. It roughly translates to “Circuit of the eye” and stands for the nerve that connects the eye to sight. Music is what I do as Circuit des Yeux is the window to worlds upon worlds.
TF: What’s it like to be working with Drag City?
It’s truly a great and rewarding experience. I feel very lucky and chosen.
TF: What are your plans for the future – are we likely to see you play in Scotland soon?
I’m hoping to bring Reaching For Indigo all around the world! I love playing live music and am trying to get to Scotland in the summertime of 2018.
TF: What has been your favourite gig to date?
Each one is special in its own way. I can’t choose one, or even ten for that matter.
