An invite to the first music festival outside the UK was enticing particularly with the calibre of line-up on offer at Primavera Sound 2018. The festival has built up a reputation for delivering stellar line-ups and now in it’s eighteenth year and getting bigger every year, it takes place in the almost guaranteed Barcelona sunshine at the end of May. The Stag and Dagger Festival still keeps the indie music lovers entertained for a day of up and coming as well as established music, and the main stretch of Sauchiehall St in Glasgow busy on a May Sunday, now in it’s tenth year. There was enough going on throughout the eclectic line up to keep most interested or enthused by music, and clearly by the time we turned up everyone had indulged a little too much in the alcohol and the responses to the music from the crowd had a slight twist.Read More
Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged session is widely regarded as one the best performed for MTV. Back in 1993, they played a stripped-down which broke from the programme’s norm by including mainly lesser-known songs and covers. Pussy Riot, the infamous feminist protest punk group known for staging stunts in their home of Russia hit the headlines when two of their members ending up imprisoned as a result.
Their protest in an orthodox church named a ‘Punk Prayer’ was to highlight their opposition to Putin’s regime and his vision of his country, landed three of their members with two-year jail sentences for which they served 21 months.Read More
